Seafood Sandwiches

Grab a summer sea breeze and a pack of D’Italiano® Herb & Garlic Hamburger Buns to enjoy these simple delicious seafood inspired sandwiches; perfect for summer entertaining too.

  • 4 D’Italiano® Herb & Garlic Hamburger Buns
  • 4 pounds fresh mussels in the shell
  • 1 1/2 cups marinara sauce ( homemade, or good quality jarred sauce)
  • 2 tbsp fresh chopped basil
  • grated parmesan cheese


  1. Steam the mussels for 7 minutes in shallow boiling water in a covered saucepan..
  2. Meanwhile heat the marinara sauce to a slow simmer in a small saucepan.
  3. Drain the water from the mussels and remove them from the shells. Discard any that do not open.
  4. Simmer the mussels in the marinara sauce or an additional 5 minutes.
  5. Serve on toasted D’Italiano® Herb & Garlic Hamburger Bunswith a little grated parmesan cheese on top.
