Sautéed Cinnamon Apples

These sauteed cinnamon apples are both tart and sweet and make an amazingly simple but delicious accompaniment to grilled or roasted pork.

Ingredients

  • 4 – 6 large firm crisp, apples cut into large cubes; only about 10 cubes per apple.
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar or lemon juice
  • 2 - 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • ¼ to ½ tsp cinnamon
  • pinch salt
  • pinch black pepper optional

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a large skillet.
  2. Sauté apple cubes for about a minute in the butter over medium high heat.
  3. Add the apple cider vinegar, brown sugar and cinnamon and continue to saute for about another 3 minutes until the liquid reduces to glaze the apples. The Apples should be warmed through but still firm not soft or mushy.
  4. Serve immediately.
