Chipotle Chili Sloppy Joes. A warmly spiced, smoky flavoured comfort food chili that also makes amazingly delicious Sloppy Joe Sandwiches.
Here’s my favorite new smoky flavoured chili recipe. We often use it at our house to make the most amazing Sloppy Joes.
This time we made them on homemade sub rolls rolls. It’s the same recipe we use to make the rolls for our Homemade Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches.
I’ve just braided 3 thin strands of dough to make them look more appealing. I think it worked quite well here.
The chili on its own is also outstanding. I love the smoky flavour profile from adding the chipotle powder, cumin and smoked paprika.
It hits all the right flavour notes. It’s a terrific addition to a pot luck dinner at any time of the year. Use it for amazing chili dogs too!
I’ve been grinding my own beef for years now. I like a coarser grind which adds a more meaty texture to the final result when making this recipe.
Using lean ground beef also keeps this recipe on the healthier side without sacrificing flavour in the least. By grinding your own, you can also control the fat content very well, by trimming the beef well before grinding.
