I haven't made this yet, just saw it today, but I was wondering how the toothpick would come clean if it has sauce at the bottom. Presumably you just check the "cake" part? I love chocolate melting cake so can't wait to try. Thanks

I've been making this recipe since the 70's. Two differences with our otherwise identical recipes is that you add vanilla - which I will have to try and I add 1 Tablespoon instant coffee to the dry cake ingredients to enhance the chocolate flavor. I'm curious to try it adding the vanilla. Thanks for posting this recipe - it's an oldie but a goodie!

Made this earlier today. Wondering if enough will be left for dessert by supper time. It is a wonderful chocolate pudding cake and easy enough to let the younger eaters sift/whisk the dry ingredients, assist with the wet ingredients and even spread the batter into the ungreased pan. The rewards are more than justified for the chocolate lovers' palates. A truly wonderful memory from grandma's kitchen is resounded in the chocolate flavor. Five Stars for sure.

My dad use to make this all the time for us when we were kids. It is one of my favorite and brings back good memories every time we have it.
