My love of anything chocolate orange continues with this Orange Chocolate Chip Coffee Cake. It may well be the prettiest chocolate orange recipe yet.
This is not strictly a new recipe, just a new recipe to my blog. This recipe first appeared in my very first Rock Recipes Cookbook. It’s sometimes hard for me to believe that I have written another 3 cookbooks since then.

To stay true to the original text of the cookbook, what follows is the same wording as appears in the book:
Regular readers of my Rock Recipes blog will not be surprised to see this flavour combination in my brunch recipes. From profiteroles to trifles, anything that combines chocolate and orange is a well-established weakness of mine.

I think it’s perfectly acceptable to serve dessert at a brunch, particularly when it’s the main meal of the day on a weekend.

I like dark chocolate chips in this recipe but you can use any kind you like..
This delicious coffee cake, with its pound cake-like texture and upside down crown of shimmering candied orange slices, is best served warm when it’s at its fragrantly enticing best.

You will need to make the candied orange slices first so that they can cool off a little before using them to line the cake pan.

Hi Barry, Where is the coffee gone in your list of ingredients for the above cake.? I would love if you could give the weight of the ingredients in ounces or grams as I do not know what your cup weight is here in Ireland
