Spicy Mango Orange Grilled Shrimp. The orange mango puree in this recipe is very versatile.

Spicy Orange Mango Grilled Shrimp

Some leftover Mango Orange Salad Dressing was the inspiration for these very tasty grilled shrimp. I added some extra crushed chili paste to give it a great little spicy kick too.

As mentioned above, the puree in this recipe is quite versatile. It can be used as a marinade, a dip, and even a fat free salad dressing when adding these delicious shrimp to a healthy salad.

Fresh or frozen shrimp can be used for this recipe.

If you are not a seafood lover, try marinating strips of boneless chicken breasts. They would make a delicious addition to a lunch or dinner salad too.

The orange mango puree in this recipe is very versatile. It can be used as a marinade, a dip, and even a fat free salad dressing when adding these delicious shrimp to a healthy salad

Servings: 2 dozen shrimp

Ingredients
  • 2 dozen large shrimp
For the marinade/dip
  • 1 cup diced ripe mango
  • pinch salt
  • pinch white pepper
  • pinch Chinese five spice powder
  • 1 tsp ground chili paste optional for those not fond of heat
  • 1/2 tsp finely minced garlic
  • orange juice
Instructions
  1. Peel, de-vein and wash the shrimp. Pat dry with paper towels.
To prepare the marinade/dip
  1. Puree all ingredients except orange juice in a blender or food processor and puree until very smooth.
  2. Slowly add enough orange juice until the puree reaches the consistency of salad dressing.Set about half aside as a dipping sauce if you prefer.
  3. Marinate uncooked shelled shrimp in the mango orange mixture for only about 20 minutes before grilling them over medium heat for only a minute or two per side, depending on the size of your shrimp.
  4. Season them lightly with slat while they are on the grill as well.
