2025 Update.
If you do a quick search for Moose farts recipe, you'll get hundreds of results. Back in December of 2017, there was only one. This very recipe.
Over the ears many blogs, and lifestyle sites have posted a Moose farts recipe. They are all the same and all of them started here.

Back to the original post.
Recently, a follower of the Rock Recipes Facebook Page messaged me and asked if I had a recipe for Moose Farts! My first reaction was, of course... whaaaaat!!?
Then, suddenly I thought, wait, where have I heard that before. The nagging familiarness finally gave way to a memory of a trip to Gander for an event my daughter was participating in a couple of years ago.
On that weekend in Gander we ate at Rosie's Diner and Bakery twice. Once for lunch and back again for breakfast the next morning. The diner food we had there was top notch.
From the classic club house sandwich and fries I had for lunch, to the toutons and eggs the next morning. Rosie's is definitely worth the few minutes off the TCH if you are driving through Gander.

The fabled Moose Farts.
As you enter Rosie's, there is a small display from their in house bakery with fresh bread, cakes and cookies. I suddenly remembered looking at one of the display cases with Spouse and there was a handwritten sign in front of one of the piles of cookie trays.
It announced in bold letters "MOOSE FARTS". So these were a thing after all.

I then made a few discreet enquiries with friends in Central, and found fewer degrees of separation than six. With this info I was able to procure a recipe that I was assured was a near facsimile of Rosie's famous Moose Farts, if not the genuine article itself.

Having never tried Rosie's Moose Farts, I can make no such declaration. Perhaps someone from Gander who knows them well, will have to try the recipe and give us a definitive opinion.
This no-bake cookie confection could not be easier to make, and would be an ideal snow day project if you have small kids about.

I immediately sent the recipe to my nephews Nate & Luke in Edmonton, who are still in Primary School.
I know they will be thrilled to tell everyone at school they made "Moose Farts". LOL! I can just see their grins now.

Is there a substitute for the sweetened condensed milk to make these dairy free for people with dairy allergies
Not that I know of.
I was wondering if these freeze well? I was going to make a bunch prior to Christmas Eve to have for fun snacks 🙂
yes indeed.
Can I use crushed Digestive Biscuits instead of Grahm Crackers.
I think that would work.
These Moose farts were the hit of my party. Will make again.
Made these with my 7 year old and we had a great time! We tried baking them, 350F for 15 minutes. They are chewy and amazing. Just may sure to use parchment paper or a pan liner, and don't move them until they are completely cool or they will squish.
How do you store these and how long do they last? Thanks can’t wait to try them!
Fridge or freezer.
These are sooo good! everyone loved them, and it was not just the kids who giggled at the name! Huge hit, will make again, and again.....
Always looking for new ideas
My boss told me I wasn’t allowed to make them for work anymore…Because she would eat too many of them they are so good. 😆
Could these be frozen to last longer.
Yes indeed!
I made these yesterday for the first time. They are delicious!
I will make these with mini choc chips, make small round balls and call them bunny farts for Easter.
They are awesome. Thank you.
how can i make these lactose free?
I guess you'd have to find lactose free, sweetened milk....does it exist?
Mine didn't stay in round balls, they spread out. What can I do to get tham to stay in a ball shape?
I've never heard that comment before. I'd just add more crumbs until they hold shape. Double check your measurements next time too.
