This was the first barbecue sauce ever featured on Rock Recipe back in our very early days. In the first year to be exact.

There have been quite a number of sauces added since then. I love using them during grilling and smoking season especially.

I'd say the vast majority of my spring and simmer cooking is done on the outdoor grill or in my smoker. This year I've added a flat top grill and a wood fired pizza oven to the outdoor kitchen.

I may not be bak inside until Fall!

FYI. We also use this sauce in delicious recipe for Slow Braised BBQ Beef Sandwiches. It's the perfect alternative to pulled pork and a great way to feed a crowd on game days or at casual family celebrations.

  1. Yeah- I'm gonna have to try this. The fried chicken and beef sandwiches made with this stuff look amazing!

  2. Perhaps you need to simmer it longer. Don't be afraid to add a little extra molassess for depth of color too if necessary.

  3. I was looking for a good sauce to make a bbq chicken pizza and I think this would "rock"! 😉 Though I may have to make a 1/2 batch without the fennel as the bf dislikes the taste of licorice.

    1. There are several recipes on site that do that. I oil a baking sheet and use an oil spritzer for the tops. Then I flip them half way through the cooking time.
